The wait is over for Prins Thomas long player
Norwegian nu disco main man Prins Thomas has finally had time to write and record his debut album after years of releasing successful 12”s and remixes. ‘I haven’t really thought about doing a proper solo album before,’ he admits ‘as just finding the time for my solo 12”s in between has been hard enough. And I can probably count 50 remixes for each new 12” I do!’
The good news for fans is that his self-titled debut album is set for release on his Full Pupp label on March 29 th this year. Despite the fact that it’s been in the pipeline for some time he says that the album came together pretty quickly in the end. ‘The week after HP (Lindstrom) and I finished mixing II, I had a couple of ideas floating around and – having just had a good run in the studio – I was feeling really inspired.’
The album was put together in his Oslo studio ‘with HP next door and (Todd) Terje across the hall,’ and despite the usual flutters that are inevitable in any creative process, it seems to have come together largely without headache. ‘I had a brief nerve-wracking moment as I did the final mix, but I’ve always ended up going with my gut feeling. The scary thing now is how inspiring it is to finally put out my own stuff. Now I’ve got tons of new stuff in the pipeline plus a couple of more dance singles lined up, too!’
Launch parties for the album will take place at Corsica Studios in London on March 12 th and in Bla in Oslo on March 13 th. |
